Personal Opinion about American Culture

Most of the people believe in the power of fate but a high porcentage of Americans do not. I think it is because they have what they have because of their effert.
Another fact is that they are ready to make changes, sometimes big changes. This is because they leave home when they are teenagers and have to start living on their own. They have to make their own decisions and their on money so this makes them grow up faster compared to Latin American where most people stay at parents house and live there almost all their life, some others get married and take their husband or wife to live them. Parents, daugther and son in law.
About the time, it is important for me because there are people who have a busy life and it is very disrespecful to keep them waiting for you. With that wasted of theme thy could have finished some school homework of checking their mail account.

Something that I really impresses me it is the fact that Americans have the same opportunities, it doesn´t matter your social status. Competition is another thing. People in the USA since they are kids compete for being the best and that is why they always want to do something and be busy.
About Latinos, Most of us are people who likes to enjoy life, some of us like simple things and enjoy spending time ith our family. It is our tradition and it is going to be difficult to change that. Also I belive that we, latinos, need to be more independent and experience new things.

Language and Culture

Language and Culture come together in the process of learning a new language. Speaking Spanish from Spain and speaking Spanish from Peru is not the same. Each country uses different words and slangs to express and idea. also we have to take into account its culture when learing another countries lenguage.
In some Spanish countries, people use "tú" others "usted" and a few others "vos". We as teacher have to teach our students the different expressions so they can use them at the right time. For nstance, it would be disrespecful to call our boss "tu" and our firends "usted".
Languages can be simple or complex. Sometimes we speak differently depending on what kind of person we are talking to. Talking with your friends is not the same as talking with your boss. We need to say the right word at the right time.

Intelligent Educational Environments

We become better proffesionals by practicing, and in time, we will get more experience.
I agree that reading is important, but for some people it is not helpful especially when it is about getting some information for exams. Theory is fine when we have to solve some problems and for having some ideas what to do and how to deal with it. But we, as teachers, will become better by practicing.
The best way for our students to learn a language is by practicing, debating and solving problems. we must try to ensure that our students focus int heir classes. This means that the lessons have to be entertainning.
Another fact is that the students work better when they do not feel stress, but for some students stress means, exams, quizzes and oral tests.
Some education institutions have decided not to test students with grades. However, how can we, as teachers, meansure if our students are doing well or not? Doing projects in groups or even alone, we are not sure if they did it by themselves. there are sudents with differnts value systems, for some education is thir last priority.

What i think is that teachers have to check if our students are learning. W e have to use most of the techniques that we have learned and apply them. Also, for evaluating our students we can use projects, debatings, solving problems, quizzees and exams to be 100% sure that they are learning.

week 2 pregunta 2,3

How does it feel when others see you as different—or as an outsider?

When i came here 3 years ago, i felt a little bit different, first of all the way i talked, the way i dress, i use to like to wear a lot of dresses, shorts and sandals because i lived on the Coast of Peru, so people here in the University looked at me weird. Also, at lunch time it was very unconfortable because i dont like any milk derivative and here they put it in almost all food. the popular "natilla" and frijoles are not my favorite but i always accept it because i don’t want to be rude. Now i like frijoles, but I still dont like "Natilla".

How do others' beliefs, values, and cultural upbringing influence the way they behave?

A lot, all country have their own identity and we behave acording to that.

Week 2

How do your beliefs, values, and cultural upbringing influence the way you behave?

beliefs and values that i have from my country Peru is very similar to Costa Ricans, most of peruvians are catholics. definitely what i have learned and experienced when i was a child i apply it nowdays so i think my behavior is according of what i have learned.
Here in Costa Rica it is almost the same. Sometimes the way the speak make me feel confused, specially when i just arrived here, even though we speak the same language we speak different.
Also i my country we do not give to many hugs and mention God all the time like CostaRicans do, for example: Que Dios me la acompañe, si Dios quiere, Gracias a Dios, etc... but now i say it all the time.

Week 1

I really like the openning that the teacher did the first day of class, also in this course we are going to see the diferents traditions, costums that American have and the different oppions that we have about them.
